There is no charge for these concerts as all concerts are funded through grants or private and corporate donations through mail, at the door, or through our website.

Kathryn Findlen

Mezzo Soprano Kathryn Findlen's collaborations place her at the forefront of new American concert repertoire. She has worked with Pulitzer Prize winning composers John Corigliano, John Harbison and Robert Ward, bringing their pieces to life on the concert stage.

 
Fredericksburg Music Club, Inc. Presents Kathryn Findlen Mezzo Soprano In Concert January 19, 2014

This season she will sing three pieces by Pulitzer Prize winner George Crumb, including the newest work for voice and piano "Sun and Shadow" which she will prepare with the composer. Future performances include Handel's Messiah with Austin Symphony, the University of Texas at Austin's Distinguished Artist Series with harpist Delaine Fedson, and the New York premiere of Ken Frazelle's Songs in the Rearview Mirror in Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall May 20, 2013.

Beginning her training at the Brevard Music Center Opera Program at the age of 13, Kathryn was invited to study at The North Carolina School of Performing Arts at the age of 14, where she also earned a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. She holds a Master of Music from The University of Texas at Austin, and completed her Opera Apprenticeship at Austin Lyric Opera. Findlen's former students can be heard this upcoming season at Portland Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and New York City Opera.

My personal belief is that anyone can sing, and approach my own craft as a singing actress and athlete. Singing is a unique combination of our analytical, spiritual and artisitic selves that brings a sense of personal joy like no other.
